Nghệ sĩ Lê Mai là mẹ của 3 nghệ sĩ tài năng gồm NSND Lê Khchị, NSƯT Lê Vi, NSƯT Lê Vân. Ở tuổi 86, nghệ sĩ Lê Mai vẫn rất khỏe mạnh. Năm ngoái, bà vừa nhận tin cười được phong tặng dchị hiệu NSƯT.
Nghệ sĩ Lê Mai sống trên phố Phan Đình Phùng, hàng ngày bà thường ngồi nhiều giờ ở quán trà đá đầu ngõ để cắn hạt dưa, uống chén nước, buôn chuyện cùng hàng xóm, bạn bè và ngắm người qua lại. Trong ảnh là nghệ sĩ Lê Mai và bạn thân diễn viên Kim Xuyến.
Căn phòng bà ở ngay đầu ngõ quán nước chè. Đến thăm bà những ngày cận Tết, bà cười vẻ, hồ hởi trò chuyện. Phòng ở của bà có 2 cửa, một cửa sau thông với nhà tgiá rẻ nhỏ bé bé gái Lê Khchị và một cửa trước ra ngay mặt đầu ngõ.
Căn phòng khoảng 20m2 của bà rất gọn gàng, sạch bóng không hạt bụi. Căn phòng tuy nhỏ nhưng khá đầy đủ đồ gồm một bộ bàn ghế nhỏ, một chiếc giường, nhiều khung ảnh và tủ để bày biện những món đồ mà bà thích.
Nghệ sĩ Lê Mai lưu giữ rất nhiều ảnh gia đình, ảnh các vai diễn bà từng thủ vai... Nữ nghệ sĩ 86 tuổi cười bảo, tgiá rẻ nhỏ bé bé gái lớn của bà là nghệ sĩ Lê Vân hay trêu là khi bà mất phải có 2 áo quan: 'Mẹ mất là phải có hai áo quan, một cái mẹ nằm, còn một cái đựng ảnh".
Bà rất trân trọng mọi kỷ niệm, kỉ vật đã có trong cuộc sống của mình nên thích lưu giữ lại mọi thứ. Nữ nghệ sĩ hào hứng chỉ từng bức ảnh, từng món đồ kể lại từng câu chuyện liên quan.
Phòng ở của bà còn có một gác xép nhỏ, nữ nghệ sĩ bảo, bà vẫn trèo lên trên một cách bình thường.
Dù căn phòng ở tầng 1 khá biệt lập với gia đình tgiá rẻ nhỏ bé bé gái nghệ sĩ Lê Khchị nhưng nghệ sĩ Lê Mai thích cuộc sống vừa có tự do vừa có sự gần gũi tgiá rẻ nhỏ bé bé cháu như hiện tại.
Hàng ngày bà vẫn sang ăn cơm trò chuyện cùng gia đình nghệ sĩ Lê Khchị. Mong ước lớn nhất của nữ nghệ sĩ ở tuổi này là không đau ốm.
